Learn how to make effective use of new business tools
Speaker : Mark Hope MD Stonehouse Logic Ltd
Conscious of the fact that mobile technology is advancing rapidly and that business applications which can take advantage of this are now maturing. The DDU has organised a second free seminar on the subject.
We will look at the real life applications from which the small to medium sized business can gain clear competitive advantage. At this workshop/seminar we will be investigating and demonstrating the real business applications that are available to gain competitive advantage and create efficiencies. This technology can create a real return on investment.
Blackburn World, the DDU's community web portal, is hosting its annual
survey and entries to the prize draw and the opportunity to win a Sony
Playstation Portable (PSP) closes at midnight on Friday
30th March. The survey is intended to stimulate feedback from our
visitors about how you use the site and what you like or maybe dislike about
it. It's also a good chance to tell us what you'd like to see on the site
in the future and help shape the new services that we put on the portal
in the coming year. As a token of our appreciation, entries to the survey
will be placed into a draw to win a Sony Playstation Portable (PSP); a handheld
games console that also features a mobile web browser. The survey only takes
a minute or two to complete and we would really like to hear your opinions
about the site. To complete the survey and enter the prize draw please visit

SME’s now have the opportunity to invest in technology that once was the prerogative of the major PLC’s.
But are they making the most of this opportunity? And if not why not?
Here at the Digital Development Unit we aim encourage you to invest in innovation and technology in order to grow your business and make your companies stronger. And our services are free to Blackburn with Darwen businesses.
The free community websites project is still going strong with 3 new websites addded to the roster in February and March; Audley Youth Group, Earcroft Community Association and Africa Community Action.
To find out more about the free community website project and to apply for your own community website please visit the project website at www.bwdcommunities.org.uk.
With advice and financial assistance from the Digital Development Unit, Evertaut, the Blackburn based manufacturer of office, auditorium, and public seating solutions has redeveloped brochure web site to help them expand their online services.
The Blackburn Business Net website has a business to business enquiry tool that is driven by a large database of Blackburn with Darwen companies. The free tool enables you to search the business directory on "Line of Business", "Company Name" and "Address" and then allows a single email enquiry to be sent selected companies from the search results. To take advantage of this tool or to register your company free in the database visit the Directory at Blackburn Business Net.
We are always happy to hear success stories from local businesses, particularly from those who can attribute part of that success to advice and support received from the Digital Development Unit. If you have a news item that you think would be worthy of inclusion in the Blackburn Business Net news section, or an event that you would like to publicise in the events section, please email me, Lee Jorgensen with your content attached as a Word, RTF or plain text file. (Final inclusion of content on the BBN site is solely at the discretion of the Digital Development Unit.)
