Lomas take Heart from new business management system

A local furniture and stationery suppliers have purchased a new business management system with help and advice from the Digital Development Unit.

Formed in 1983 and based on King Street in Blackburn, Lomas office Furniture & Stationery Ltd have a market that covers the whole of Lancashire with an impressive customer base that includes Blackburn with Darwen Council, NHS trusts and local secondary schools.

Their existing order processing system was not designed to cope with the current and future demands of the office furniture and stationery business and did not have the ability to keep up to date with prices on 25,000 standard stationery items and 5,000 standard furniture items. As such, order processing was slow and time consuming and did not allow a best buy position to be determined. After consultation with the DDU the company decided to purchase the Heart system which was been designed specifically to address these issues and has an extremely good back up system which was a key requirement. The benefits of the investment has been to speed up order processing and order turn round time, improve purchasing performance offer a wider product range generate more business and business opportunities
